Description
Aftermath of devastating hurricane.
................................
Hurricane Sandy was the deadliest and most destructive hurricane of the 2012 Atlantic hurricane season, as well as the second-costliest hurricane in United States history. It affected 24 states, including the entire eastern seaboard from Florida to Maine and west across the Appalachian Mountains to Michigan and Wisconsin, with particularly severe damage in New Jersey and New York. Its storm surge hit New York City on October 29, flooding streets, tunnels and subway lines and cutting power in and around the city. Damage in the United States amounted to $65 billion. .....................................
For days and weeks after the hurricane, many roads were closed and destroyed. People lost their homes, could not send their kids to school for a very long time.
........................
Many people who I personally know were affected by this disaster; many are not fully recovered yet...
..............................
This painting is representing what I saw the next morning after the hurricane - electric poles, trees, traffic lights, fences were down. Sidings and pieces of roof were on the ground. Cars were smashed under the trees, streets were flooded. It was extremely painful experience that I will never be able to forget.
................................
This artwork, as all my other paintings, is oil on canvas. My technique is to create many layers with plenty of texture. It usually takes a long time before the painting is finalized.

What amazing colors, and subtle blending, yet the edge and impending doom is also present.

You did an amazing job of using color, brush strokes/texture, and energy to convey destruction and the emotions that it causes.
